Birds of Slebech Park

warbler

During the three years we have lived here a number of birds have flown into the double glazed windows.
2005 was the turn of the Willow Warbler. He did survive and fly away after 10 minutes in a dazed state. The Blue tit was the 2004 victim! We have since put net curtains all the way round downstairs - it seems to work though the view is considerably reduced for us!

Jays breed locally - we have had two young at the bird table with two adults.
Great spotted woodpeckers have also bred - In 2006 two young have regularly visited the garden. This was an amazing sight since the female was killed by a cat leaving dad to cope on his own!
Another interesting local breeding record is of a Nuthatch.
