Butterflies numbers vary considerably from year to year - this year
is the year of the Ringlet - sadly no photo yet!!
I am informed a good number
of Silver Washed Fritillaries are about this year . 1 was positively identified on
buddleia in the garden on 1st August.
Species identified 2004-2006 include:-Holly Blue, Common Blue, Orange Tip, Wall Brown,
Green veined white, Small White, Large White, Small Tortoiseshell, Small Heath,
Gatekeeper, Ringlet, Meadow Brown, Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Comma, Small Copper,
Painted Lady, Peacock, Clouded Yellow and an unidentified fritillary - almost certainly
a Dark Green (large size precludes most other possibilities.)
